I need to cut some 1/4" plexi to finish up a vivarium for one of my many critters and I don't know which is the best tool to use.
Any of you lovely Chicas done this before? What did you use? Was it a success?
I would've asked my hubby or uncle, but.... well... they're guys and they don't understand the importance of 'precision and pretty' together, y'know?

A router works best. a trim router is handy but if you don't regularly do wood worker or whatever it 's sorta a specialized tool.

Dremel hobby tools will cut yr plastic and a bunch of other stuff.

Sat, September 16, 2006 - 7:02 PMMy local plastics shop had me cutting acrylic with a plywood blade on a table saw. (I had a lot to cut, straight lines, the lot of them.)
As fine-toothed as you can get for the smoothest cut. -

I have a Dremel, a jigsaw or three, a table saw and a brand new excuse to buy myself a circular saw... thanks to Arcadia :o)
I want the smoothest cut as possible, so I'm thinking the table saw or the circular
...but wondering if the router attachment on my Dremel (I've never used it before... have two, even) will do the trick? Anyone use their router attachment on their Dremel? -

Mon, September 18, 2006 - 5:06 PMThe dremel router should give the smoothest cut . clamp some sort of straight edge to the piece and run yr router along the straight edge to get straight cut. Some dremel router attachments have an adjustable fence which might work if your cut pieces don't need to be wider than the fence can adjust. That said if you got a table saw that'll make a good cut too if yu use a new sharp blade intenede for plywood or plastic. Carbide blades with at least 60 teeth on 10 inch blade cut best but even cheapo plywood blades will do the trick.
