Not my foredom grinder, not my belt sander, not my scroll saw, but some jackass snapped the hatch to my truck and yanked my tool bucket. I just priced all of the tools he got and it's going to cost me at least $250 to replace them with lower quality tools. The worst of it is that they got my rock hammer. It's from the 50's, rusted, and has a freyed strap. To everyone else it's a piece of crap and I'm sure it's been dumped by now.

The lamest part is that it belonged to my first and best mentor. He died when I was 15. Silly as it sounds that hammer represented something to me and those fuckers will never get that.

I'd trade my truck for it.

  • I know how you feel . last week i had $3000.00 worth of tools stolen out of my shop.most of the tools were less than a year old and had no real sentimental value. but one item that was stolen that really hurts was a hand forged , leather wraped , trim hammer that an 'old timer' carpenter gave to me when i just started out in construction twenty years ago. i dont even mind that much about the other tools , but my hammer, like yours, had a special meaning to me. but i'm not letting this go that easy. iv'e got a 'dick' on the case and he said that because there were about 15 tools stolen and each one was marked with my company name on them that it is likely that one or two of them might show up somewhere. and when they do it wont be long before we catch the crooks that did this. than it's my lawyers turn to go to work on them and score one for us.
