support the cool little cute hippie girl.
she's got good intentions and she's a mommy.
AND she's got a point. Med MJ is GOOOOOOOD.
However, i must do my job as moderator and slap her on the wrist for getting off topic and posting shit in here that has nadda to do with powertools.

ok, now back to your orignially scheduled program.

Let's play a game...who can tell good stories about week mixing with powertools. April? How are those cabinets in the van going? Ellen, did you ever smoke and create pottery? That'd be sweeeeeeeet.
play nice with the powertools and eachother or you'll cut off a finger or something!

Years ago, Dana, when I was in art school in the seventies, back before this zero-tolerance crap. A BFA is probably the only degree you can get and indulge and have no damage done to your grade point average.

But freshman year I had a 3D studio class that was all about using these very impressive powertools, table saws and drill press thingies. The first day of class we got the horror stories about students who were buzzed or sleep deprived and sliced off a finger that their classmantes had to go sifting through the sawdust to find. Very effective speech. After that I made sure i was straight and alert every time I so much as walked into that shop. Even the hotwire gave me the willies.

Clay is soft and mushy and it is hard to hurt yourself with it when its wet. Dry, breathing the dust can cause silicosis. And mixing glazes, yipes, proceed carefully.

Just for the record, I am all for legalization of pot. Seems absurd to jail people for it when tobacco and alcohol, very dangerous substances are legal. To call the post "spam" is not to say it is not about a worthy subject or that the posters intentions aren't pure. But it is off-topic and that blunts the effectiveness of the powertool that is tribenet. Like using your spiffy new electric drill as a sledgehammer to pound in a tent stake, eh? And you LOVE your drill, you want to keep it in great shape.

I remember in grade school, we had the 3D art in 8th grade. At first we started with paper measuring and cutting and folding and taping and creating 3D paper blocks. Then we moved into the shop....whoooaa!!! I was not ready for that. I almost put a hole in my hand with the drill press and i almost melted someone's foot pouring melted metal into the mold. made a great paper weight though. i actually did accidentally sand a part of my skin on my wrist away with the belt sander that year. Fucking hurts worse than a deep hole. Big area...no skin = BAD. We had mucho fun though. I got to make a working lamp that looked like a well pump. Like it looked like one with a shade on top and then the handle turned the light on. it was really fucking cool at 13. I was stoned then too ;)
For the record *sidelook* I do dig everyone's point. There's validity in it all. I love all my tool weilding minions very much in very equal parts :)
No, nobody wants to see tribe get a boo boo from being utilized improperly, but nobody ever said it was actually a bad thing to get fucked with a cucumber....i actually heard a story once (i think i read it in a Michelle T book) where this young girl would wash it and place it nicely back in the crisper drawer for the salad the next night...
        waste not want not ;)
        hey, cucumbers are tools too!
        i love you guys xo
thanks for the story ellen...made me reminisce Mr. Mobus and shop class 1989....goooood ;)
April, also a good idea is to post in mostly weed related tribes about these services. If i were a pothead (oh and i am!)and need med mj, i wouldn't look in the chicks-n-tools tribe.
also, don't forget about the leukemia and cancer tribes. There are two in my profile. They could use this service to the max! I'll actually hand your info to my very good friend with hodgkins in the hospital now getting a stem cell transplant. she can use it. it's been costing ME a bundle!!!!!!

NOW BACK TO THE TOOLS YOU FUCKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*asserting false perception of moderating power*
        ;) xo
